Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Life in the UK Test 2026 Pro ("the App") is an iOS and Android application developed by ObscuraCode Ltd ("we," "our," or "us"), a company registered in London, United Kingdom. The App helps users prepare for the official Life in the UK Test through practice questions, mock exams, and study materials.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have regarding your data. Where consent is required, we ask for your choice before processing data for that purpose.
The App is designed with your privacy in mind. We follow a principle of minimal data collection:
- The App does not require account creation or sign-up.
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- The free version may display Google AdMob advertisements. Active Premium access removes in-app advertisements.
- Advertising services may process device and advertising data, subject to your privacy choices as described below.
2. Data We Collect
2.1. Information You Provide
When you use the App, you may voluntarily provide the following:
- Study preferences and in-app settings.
- Support requests sent via email.
We do not collect:
- Your name or email address (unless you contact support or use the optional email sign-up on lifeinuk.me, see Section 14).
- Your phone number.
- Your precise location or GPS data.
- Any social media or third-party account information.
- Contacts, calendar data, photos, or other device content.
2.2. Locally Stored Information
Your study progress — including answered questions, scores, bookmarks, and review history — is stored locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2.3. Automatically Collected Information
To maintain and improve the App, we automatically collect certain technical information:
- Device model and type.
- Operating system version (iOS or Android).
- App version.
- Crash logs and diagnostic information used to identify and fix technical issues.
- Purchase and subscription status needed to unlock Premium features and restore purchases.
- On iOS, Apple Ads campaign attribution information, when available, such as campaign, ad group, and keyword identifiers.
Technical identifiers may distinguish your device or app installation. Diagnostic data supports app stability; purchase data supports Premium access.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App's study features.
- To save your progress locally on your device.
- To maintain, improve, and optimize the App's performance and user experience.
- To manage in-app purchases and communicate with Apple or Google regarding billing.
- To diagnose technical issues and resolve crashes or bugs.
- On iOS, to measure whether an App Store download resulted from an Apple Ads campaign.
In the free version, Google AdMob may process IP addresses (which can indicate approximate location), device and app identifiers, advertising identifiers where available and permitted, ad interactions, and diagnostic data to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. Your study answers and revision history are not provided to AdMob by the App. See Google's advertising information and Privacy Policy.
4. How Your Data Is Processed
4.1. Local Storage
App preferences, study progress, bookmarks, and quiz history are stored locally on your device. No user accounts are created, and no persistent personal profiles are maintained on our servers.
4.2. Diagnostic Data
Crash logs and diagnostic data are processed by Firebase Crashlytics (see Section 9) solely to help us identify and fix technical issues. They are not used for advertising or tracking.
4.3. Advertising and Your Choices
Google's User Messaging Platform presents privacy choices where required. You can revisit available choices through “Ad privacy choices” in the App's Settings. Available options depend on your region. Declining personalised advertising does not necessarily remove all ads. We do not request ads until Google's consent checks allow requests.
On iOS, the App may request campaign attribution from Apple's AdServices framework and share the resulting attribution information with RevenueCat. This helps us measure Apple Ads campaign performance. It does not apply on Android.
An active Premium subscription or Lifetime purchase removes ads automatically. Restoring an eligible purchase restores this benefit. Subscription expiry may allow ads to return. Purchasing Premium does not delete information already processed by service providers; contact us or the relevant provider for data requests.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide the App's services:
- Study progress, bookmarks, and preferences persist only while they remain on your device. Uninstalling the App removes all local data.
- Crash logs and diagnostic data are retained for a limited period to support troubleshooting and are subsequently deleted.
- Advertising and purchase service providers retain information according to their own policies and legal obligations.
6. Payment Information
All payments for in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or Google through Google Play. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment details, including credit card numbers, billing addresses, or other financial information.
We use RevenueCat to validate receipts, manage subscription status, unlock Premium features, and restore purchases. Purchase history, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, and an app user identifier may be processed for these purposes.
Apple and Google handle transaction processing, subscription management, and refund requests in accordance with their policies. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy for details on how your payment data is handled.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently received data from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete such data from our systems.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided data through the App, please contact us at legal@codeobscura.com so that we can take appropriate action.
8. Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it, including:
- Encrypted data transmission between the App and our infrastructure using HTTPS/TLS protocols.
- Encrypted communication with third-party APIs used for diagnostics and subscriptions.
- Secure server infrastructure with restricted access controls.
- Regular security assessments, monitoring, and software updates.
- Minimal data collection practices to reduce the scope of potential exposure.
While we strive to protect your information using commercially reasonable measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to promptly addressing any security incidents that may arise.
9. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services, each of which operates under its own privacy policy and terms of service:
- Apple – App Store distribution, in-app purchase management, payment processing, crash reporting, and Apple Ads campaign attribution on iOS. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google – Google Play distribution, in-app purchase management, and payment processing. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) – crash reporting and diagnostic information used to identify and fix technical issues. See Firebase Privacy Information.
Google AdMob supplies advertisements in the free version and Google's User Messaging Platform manages advertising privacy choices. See Google's Privacy Policy. RevenueCat manages Premium entitlements, purchase restoration, and Apple Ads attribution information shared by the iOS app; see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies to understand how your data may be handled by them.
10. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access & Deletion: You may request access to or deletion of any data associated with your use of the App by contacting us at legal@codeobscura.com.
- In-App Data Management: You can reset your study progress and saved preferences directly within the App at any time.
- Opt Out: No app account is required. You can review available choices in Settings under “Ad privacy choices” and manage device advertising permissions in your operating system settings. Uninstalling the App stops future collection by the App but does not itself delete provider records or cancel subscriptions.
We will respond to all data access and deletion requests within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable laws.
11. Disclaimer
The App is an independent study aid created to help users prepare for the Life in the UK Test. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the UK Government, the Home Office, His Majesty's Passport Office, or any official authority responsible for the Life in the UK Test. All trademarks and references to the official test are used for descriptive purposes only.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. Changes will be posted within the App or on our website, and the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.
Your continued use of the App following any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.

14. Email Sign-up on lifeinuk.me
Our website, lifeinuk.me, has an optional form that emails you the study plan you built there and the link to the App. Nothing on the website or in the App requires it.
- What we store: your email address, which page you signed up on, the answers you gave in the study-plan questionnaire (goal, timeline, test date and quick-check score, where you completed it), the time of sign-up, and whether each email was sent.
- Why: to send you the plan and the App link once and, if you asked for it on the Android page, a single notice when the Android version is released. We do not send newsletters and we do not share the address with anyone else.
- Provider: emails are delivered by Resend on our behalf and the sign-up list is held in Cloudflare Workers KV. See Resend's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Retention: until you unsubscribe or 24 months after sign-up, whichever comes first.
- How to unsubscribe: use the link at the bottom of every email, or write to support@codeobscura.com and we will remove the address.
